I can only assume that Flickr is looking at the time the file was modified with the GPS data - but then I have made subsequent adjustments in Aperture and this modified time isn't carried though - it's very bizarre! Aperture still reports the original capture time. I have used this third party app gps4cam prior to importing to Aperture. Hi all, thanks for the response so - I manage and upload directly from Aperture. Maybe Flickr is pulling from one of those other places. What program are you using to upload these photos to Flickr? It's possible to set the "taken on" date and time to an arbitrary date and time, overriding the date and time Flickr would have chosen.Īlso, would it be possible to provide a direct link to the original upload for that photo? There'a s lot of different places to hide dates within a file's metadata, not just in the EXIF information. On the example metadata page that James provided, Flickr is displaying two different times. I know this has been taken offline, but I'm greatly curious. We will follow up with you offline and provide the details that we are seeing : ) Since different Exif viewer might display info differently, so you might seen information different than we do. I have taken a look at the Exif data of that photo, and checked the Create Date, Orignal Date/Time and Modify Date are all December 18, 2010. Hopefully staff or someone else can help. (If it was off by an exact hour, or multiple hours, I would assume it's a time zone quirk, but it's not an exact hour.) I haven't seen that happen with my own images. That *is* odd, that the EXIF date/time is preserved and displayed, yet it's ignored by Flickr. This seems trivial when, like in this case, I did this within an hour, but after a weekend away, processing the GPS coordinates a few days later, it ruined my timeline for the weekend. This image is a live example! Actual time taken according to EXIF, 2010:12:18 09:06:57. This screenshot illustrates it - look at "Take on" at the top, and "Date and Time" at the very bottom: dl./u/1561733/flickr_date_weirdness.png Why does Flickr not use the EXIF time as the "Taken on" time - it appears to be using the time the file was modified by the gps4cam desktop app. This is mysterious, as in the EXIF data, the original time is preserved. When I use gps4cam to process my images and add GPS coordinates, Flickr's "Taken on" time reflects the time *the images were processed by the desktop app* - not the time actually taken. I manage my images using Apple Aperture 3. This allows my iPhone to plot my route with GPS, and then using the Mac companion app to go add GPS coordinates to my camera's pictures based on the time they were taken. I have started using an app called gps4cam on my iPhone/Mac. This problem is driving me insane, I hope someone can help!
